The Sequoia Park Zoo in Eureka is California’s oldest zoo and also one of the smallest in the country. Surrounded by majestic redwood forests on a serene 5-acre park, the Sequoia Park Zoo is home to a variety of smaller animals, such as red pandas, tropical birds, spider monkeys, cotton-topped tamarins, and an American black bear. Visitors can enjoy fun attractions at the zoo, like a walk-through aviary and petting zoo, eat at the café or shop for souvenirs at the gift shop. Tuesday-Sunday, 10am-5pm; Summer hours daily, 10am-5pm (Memorial Day-Labor Day) $6 adults, $4 children (age 3-12), $5 seniors and active military.

If you’ve worked up an appetite exploring at the zoo, stop by the Zoo Café. You can fuel up on family friendly choices like juicy burgers, hearty chili, spicy garlic fries, and fresh sandwiches or get a boost at the café’s espresso bar. The Zoo Café; is open from 11am-4pm on open zoo days. After lunch, stop by the Zoo Gift Shop for souvenirs, games, books, stuffed animals, fair trade gifts, and eco-friendly products. The Zoo Gift Shop is open from 10am-4pm on open zoo days. Admission to the Sequoia Park Zoo is $6 for adults, $4 for children aged 3-12 and $5 for seniors and active military. Visitors can take advantage of half-price admission every Wednesday and take $1 off admission prices with reduced winter season tickets from October to April.
