Carson Mansion

Ornate Victorian details and elaborate indoor decorative elements grace this soaring, three-story Queen Anne style home that was constructed by William and Sarah Carson in 1884. The historic Eureka landmark is one of the most photographed Victorian homes in the country and features eighteen rooms, spectacular stained glass windows, elaborately carved woodwork, marble fireplaces, and historic furnishings. Closed to the public, the Carson Mansion is now home to the Ingomar Club and does not offer tours. Visitors are welcome to view and photograph the mansion from the street. Visit www.ingomar.org.

Clarke Historical Museum

Visit this unique museum in historic Old Town Eureka to learn about the rich history and culture of Humboldt County. The museum offers interesting exhibits, including the popular Native American Wing, which showcases a large collection of Native American baskets, ceremonial objects, arrowheads, and stone tools. Current exhibits include From Sawdust to Uranium: The History of Electrical Power Generation in Humboldt County and Made for the Trade: Native American Curio Trade Baskets from 1880-1929.
